Meet Curtis Holmes
Curtis Holmes is a longtime Largo resident and local business owner. As licensed insurance agent since 1975 and the owner of First Southeast Insurance Services Inc. His experience as a business owner has made him a fiscal watchdog for the City of Largo, taking measures during his time on the Commission to save the taxpayers money.
Curtis took steps to streamline the city’s spending, that also simplified the process for many protocols. To support our cities first responders, he backed a measure to allow officers to drive their patrol cars home after their shifts, saving money for the city, and time for our first responders.
Elections were also costing the city unnecessary dollars, so Curtis suggested streamlining the election process in Largo by having 4 year terms for Commissioners and moving the election to be in line with county elections.
To support small business owners, Curtis fought adamantly against a new sign ordinance that the city was trying to impose to create uniformity in the appearance of the city’s landscape, however, these signs were going to costs businesses thousands of dollars to upgrade within a short period of time. As a business owner himself, he knows what it means to sign the front and the back of a paycheck, and fought to help business owners.
